DeClutter Confessions Week 7 ~ Living Room ~ SuperMom Monday

DeClutter Confessions Week 7 ~ Living Room
The Living Room.  It's second next to the Kitchen of where I spend my time.  It's where I'm curled up on my couch writing this right now!  Where we watch movies and play games and have Family Home Evening and feed the twins.  It's indeed a place where my family lives.  And now it's officially DeCluttered.  Bam.  Better living here we come!

Mary Organizes Week 7
So in all honesty this week wasn't all that bad in the terms of getting rid of clutter and relocating items to their rightful place.  But again I must warn you...the Playroom is coming.  The kiddo's can play their Wii in the Living Room if they've earned time doing their chores.  Other then the Twins & their double amount of stuff the toys (aka clutter) stays in the Playroom.  But enough talking, let's get on with the show (aka pictures)!

DeClutter Confessions Week 7 ~ Living Room
My biggest task of the week was also the first task, decluttering the entertainment center.  For me this meant our two cupboards worth of games, Blu-Rays and DVD's which also have the tendency to spill out on top of the TV stand.  I took everything out, put them on my Dinning Room table, alphabetized and organized the mess.  I also relocated about 10 movies into the Boys Room.  The shelves underneath the TV was a mess of cords and empty diaper bags, so I threw the trash away and did my best to add a few decorative touches to hide the cords.  The two white cords to plug in the swings have to stay, but more on that later.
Tuesday
DeClutter Confessions Week 7 ~ Living Room
Tuesday is the day to clear off end tables, coffee tables, sofa tables...you name a table living in your Living Room and declutter it.  I only have one table, an end table, and it belongs to my dear hubbie.  It also has a bottom shelf which cannot be seen from the pictures but believe you me it is there.  And covered with cutter.  Trash really.  And his old baseball glove.  I was able to throw out 2 full bags of nothing but old papers, donate 7 old church books and take an arms worth of stuff up to his shop where it belongs.

DeClutter Confessions Week 7 ~ Living Room
I did not have to worry about cleaning off the fireplace mantle because I treated myself to a fun day of decorating it a couple of weeks ago.  I didn't spend a dime and just shopped around my home for all things shades of white, woods, and shiny silvers to create a Neutral Fall Mantle.  But that's not the only task today.  The couch is also a target.  On top of it, under it and even in it.  I was pleasantly surprised when I removed the cushions to my couch and love seat to find well, not such a big mess!  Going on their 3rd year a few lost things were found and some crumbs were vacuumed away, but not too bad for a family of 9!  Oh, did you notice how I organized my blankets that are always laying around?  Check out how I repurposed a vintage extension ladder coming up this DIY Friday.
 Thursday
DeClutter Confessions Week 7 ~ Living Room
Thursday's task is too clear off/out any remaining furniture that needs attention in the Living Room.  For me this really meant to figure out a better way to corral the baby stuff.  And if you think one baby takes up a lot of room, times that by two, literally.  Some MoM's says you don't need two of everything, but for some stuff, you do.  My plug-in swings are my lifeline to sanity so they aren't going anywhere!  The other double-the-fun furniture has just been tossed into a space between the entertainment center and the love seat only to be dug through to find whatever one or both of them is using next.  I did move the Bumbo seats (used mostly when they eat) onto my Pantry counter now that I have tons of room since that giant decluttering took place!  The rest I organized in a way that I can easily get what I need without everything falling all over itself.  Sanity still in tact.
Friday
Task:  DeClutter the Floor
Hooray!  Because of our rule of "Toys in the Playroom, this room is for Family time!" I had this day off.  Nice.  That rule is not cemented in stone.  That is until the Twins start crawling around, then I won't have a clean Living Room floor again for a couple of years...
Saturday
DeClutter Confessions Week 7 ~ Living Room
Saturday is Wrap Up day.  Donate any items you've stashed away to donate, and relocate any items you may have piled up to be put back in their rightful place.  You can see how I tried to hide some of the cords under the TV with some magazines and books as well as my FHE chart.  You can print one out here and even customize it by how big your family is.  I placed it into a frame so I can use a dry-erase pen to change it every week!  The ugly cords directly behind the TV where getting on my nerves so I grabbed a thing used to block drafts underneath windows or doors similar to this one and layed it across the back to visually hide the cords.

Next week, Office Week.  My Office week.  A bad week.  Lots of clutter week.  Not-one-day-off week.  But I'm soooooo looking forward to it.
