DeClutter Confessions Week 10 ~ Landing Areas ~ SuperMom Monday

DeClutter Confessions Week 10 ~ Landing Areas ~ SuperMom Monday
Landing Areas.  We all have them and chances are if you were to go look at one of your areas now it probably needs some sort of DeCluttering.  For me mail is a never ending battle, as well as shoes and school papers.  I have three kiddo's in one school and I'm to the point of begging them to only send one set of announcements.  I don't need "No school on Veteran's Day" in triplicate thank-you-very-much.  But I must confess...because I have followed Mary's 91 Day Challenge to the tee, and kept it up, this week was a breeze! Come and check it out!

Mary Organizes Week 10
If you are following me along in your own decluttering journey you might not have any Landing Areas that are still an issue for you.  If this is the case just revisit those hot spots and see if there is any tweaking to do or a new organizing idea to try.  I didn't have many spots that fit the particular Landing Area assignment but I definitely know where my own clutter tends to land so that is where I focused.  Tackle the Landing Area assigned for the day or your own, it's that easy!

    Monday
Front Door
No one uses my front door.  My kitchen entrance off the front porch is where everyone enters my home.  My island used to be the landing area for the mail, school announcements, and upcoming events that I needed to remember.  I know this stuff has to go somewhere but I hated hated looking at the paper mess.

Week 1 ~ Kitchen, Pantry & Dining Room
To help keep this stuff organized and not strewn across my entire counter I created a Mail Center from an old vintage box.  I'm still trying to get in a really good habit of clearing out the junk mail everyday and quickly putting away the endless stuff that still finds it's way onto the counter.

Tuesday
Garage Door & Shoe Drop-Off
While I do not have a garage the kiddo's do come through the Mud Room entrance after school.  This is also the way they go in and out of the house when playing outside so the 'Shoe Drop-Off' designation fits.

Week 5 ~ Laundry Room
I have two yellow baskets that corral the shoes.  One for the boys, one for the girls.  Threats of unspeakable measure come when I find shoes sitting next to a basket.

Wednesday
Back Door
So the definition of my Back Door also fits the Mud Room entrance as well as a Landing Area clutter nightmare.  Five backpacks each have a hook as well as five coat hooks thanks to Command Strips (I love these things!)

Week 5 ~ Laundry Room
Hats and gloves each have their own bucket to keep these items from being piled up and/or lost.  It took me just a few minutes to make the fun and (almost) free chalkboard labels from Formica samples and chalkboard spray paint!

Thursday
Stairs
No stairs for me.  Whoo hoo!  Day off!

Friday
Kitchen
The Landing Area clutter zone in my kitchen (besides the counter mess shown on Monday) is the built-in desk.  It used to attract anything that needed to be put away but hadn't quite made it there yet.  I am really enjoying being able to sit at my desk now and enjoy focusing on my kiddo's Artwork Displays instead of the giant mess!

Week 8 ~ Office Areas
The 'before' pictures are truly embarrassing, so feel free if you want to skip over looking at that week  =)

Saturday
Any Other Areas
The other area in my home that has the tendency to collect random treasures on top of it is my dinning room table.  Since I had so much extra time on my hands this week (thanks again to the previous 9 weeks of my DeClutter Confession progress) I thought I would pretty-up my table.  When things look pretty I don't like to mess them up.  But when an area is a cluttered mess it's easier to keep piling it on, right?  You might enjoy this fun story of how my original plans for decorating my table for Thanksgiving drastically changed when I took my sweet two year old with me on a nature walk.

I am extremely thankful that Week 10 was easy because next week will not be.  Week 11 is Playroom Week and I have been waiting to throw out everything I see declutter this room since day one.  Bring on the donate/trash bags, I'm going in!  If I don't post my progress pictures next Monday I might have gotten lost.  Maybe I'll leave out some bread crumbs....
