Window Frame Advent Calendar ~ 12 SuperMom Days of Christmas

Now that Thanksgiving is over I am welcoming in the Christmas season with full force.  I'll be bringing you 12 fun projects, recipes and memory-making activities all to celebrate this most joyous of holidays (then I'll be taking 12 days off to focus on my family)  First off, an easy DIY project made from an old window frame turned memo board turned Advent Calendar.  Psssttt...picture frames work great too!
You might remember a while back when I showed you these three awesome old window frames I picked up at a swap meet.  One frame was transformed into a Lost Sock Organizer and the other was left as it was and I used it when decorating my

With the third frame I simply criss-crossed and staple-gunned jute twine across the back.
Grab a handful of clothespins and ta-daaaa!  Instant memo board.  I was inspired by this great project from the handy Shanty-2-Chic girls (I wanna be like them when I grow up).
Being as I wanted to now use my memo board as an Advent Calendar I spray painted 24 clothespins with Chalk Paint.  I seriously always have a can on hand!
While drying I grabbed a roll of Christmas wrapping paper to use for the daily activities.
1.  Cut the paper into strips
2.  Cut the strips into smaller strips
3.  Fold the smaller strips in half
4.  Trim into even squares if unevenness drives you crazy
A quick numbering of the clothespins...
...and writing fun activities to do...
...then pin to your board and you're done!
With my crazy schedule I leave lots of these blank and fill them in as I go.  I added a little pom pom tassel just for kicks.  My next trip into town I'm thinking a big red bow would be a nice touch to hang it with.
If you need some activity inspiration Hip Homeschool Moms has lots of ideas plus you can print their pre-made activity cards too!

  1. This looks so good, (and I have to get me some of that chalk spray paint!)I love the idea it's an activity rather than sweets, though that's a lot more work for you!
You amaze me that you find the time for anything like this with 5 kids!

  4. Such a great idea and inexpensive as well. I like how you open up to written promises and things to do instead of toys or lollies. Great project :)
