20 Modest Prom Dresses ~ Sisterhood Saturday

This is a sponsored post but as always ALL opinions & Dress Pick's are 100% mine  =)
Now that my oldest kiddo is an official Tween (did you see my Teaching Retribution post?), I've started thinking way to much about the soon-to-be teen years and all that comes with that.  Which then makes me start to think about my teen years and my four little girls all in a row and then I start to panic and wonder how I can build an impenetrable force field and suddenly I can't stop talking in never ending run-on sentences.  Breathe.
At least there is one thing I can stop worrying about.
Modest Prom Dresses.  They exist ladies.

In all seriousness as my kiddo's get bigger I try to put myself in their shoes at that age so that I can better understand what they are going through.  I also remind them that I went through the same stuff that they are, but they are living in harder times.  It's tough out there and keeping our kiddo's on the right track is more important then ever.

Hence my excitement when I discovered beautiful, stylish, affordable and modest Prom Dresses from JenJenHouse.  All of these dresses come in your choice of 32 different colors...at no charge!  What?!?  It's true.  You can order any dress in your custom measurements for just $20 more.  Plus as a wholesaler their prices are totally reasonable.

For instance the dress below that retails for $197 is only $134.
This dress retails for $399 is only $146!
I love this one that has a retail price of $366 for only $149.
Definitions of 'Modest' can vary.  For easy browsing I used the 'Narrow By' search option totally skipping the 'Short/Mini' hem length and clicked on Knee, Ankle and Floor Length.  Prom dresses can be short now too, not just long.  Jeesh, don't be so old fashioned Mom!  Plus this cute red one is only $99!

Even better I clicked on the type of sleeves I was looking for.  Or in other words not sleeveless, which is dang near impossible to find even in my day.  Now I know these dresses have only one sleeve but sometimes as SuperMom's we have to pick are battles.  One shoulder might be exposed but overall they are pretty modest!

Use 'Narrow By' to search for halter dresses.  They give an exposed-shoulder feel like a dressy-dress does.  Just resist the urge to sew your daughter a dress.  Remember to put yourself in her shoes and wanting a beautiful dress for Prom.  Instead use your skills to hide a plunging neckline or add a layer of tulle to extend the hem line.

Picking your battles can mean compromise.  If your daughter has her heart set on a strapless dress and her over-protective dad wants her in something that resembles a Nun, perhaps you can meet somewhere in the middle with one of these styles.

A few quick tips when searching for a Modest Prom Dress on JenJenHouse:
  • Start looking in the Prom Dress Category and then move on to Homecoming.  These are the two categories I used with the above dresses.
  • Don't be scared away by the title Little Black Dress!  Use the Narrow By feature to select the longer hem lengths.
  • When looking through the Evening and Holiday Dresses look closely for high slits.
  • Take the time to use the Narrow By feature!  The site refreshes every time you click a selection but it's worth it.  When I looked through the Cocktail Dresses and narrowed the dresses down to anything not in a mini/short length that had some sort of sleeve it took the number of dresses from 699 to only 22.
  • Extra poofy styles can be found in the Sweet Sixteen Category.
  • If your daughter is a shoe lover (aren't they all?) look in the Graduation Dress Category for a more simple dress that can really show off her fancy shoes!
