Here is a fun fact about me that you probably don't know.  I'm a scuba diver.  I LOVE it.  It was something I wanted to do since I can remember.  Here is another fun fact about me.  Don't tell me I can't do something or you've just guaranteed it that I will.  After my boyfriend at 16 told me he wanted a 'break' I went to my local dive shop and signed up for a scuba class.  Yep, that's how I roll.  I enjoyed it so much I became a PADI Instructor and taught classes while putting myself through college.

In my early 20's I got my first opportunity to dive somewhere exotic.  Cozumel, Mexico with the best drift diving in the world, warm water, exotic fish, and a dream come true. 

The morning of my first dive I woke up with a bit of sinus congestion.  I was a little worried about it knowing that I've had to learn a few tricks to equalize my ears while diving.  You know that weird popping sound your ears make when going over a hill or on a plane?  That same thing happens when diving, especially descending the first 33 feet.

Any-who I jump into the water and quickly start heading down.  But I could not clear my ears!  The pressure was so bad I had to go up a few feet for my ears to pop and then started down again.  I got a little farther this time when the painful pressure came back.

This happened numerous times and I was only able to make it down about 15 feet instead of the 50 feet where the rest of my group was at.  AARRGGHHHH!  I was literally crying in my mask.  Back on the boat my instructor knew just what was happening to me, reached into his bag and handed me SUDAFED®.

He told me he never goes diving with out it and brings it along just in case he has any sinus congestion.  I took a dose and did so the rest of the day.  The next morning I was able to dive as deep as I wanted and had no problem equalizing.
It is now a staple in my dive bag.
