DeClutter Confessions Week 5 ~ Laundry Room ~ SuperMom Monday

DeClutter Confessions Week 5 ~ Laundry Room
I have been waiting for Laundry Room Week.  But not in the way I am waiting for Playroom Week.  My Playroom is such a cluttered ridiculous mess I can't wait to purge at least half the shtuff that's in there.  I was waiting for Laundry Room Week because I knew it would be easy!  And I think I have deserved a bit of a break  =)
De-Clutter your home in 91 days with this plan
Mary Organizes Week 5
My Laundry Room isn't very big, or at least I wish it was bigger.  It does have a half-bath so it also serves as our Mud Room.  When playing outside the kiddo's go in and out of this room.  They also come through this back door after school to take off their shoes and unload their backpacks and jackets.  Although small, this is a very important room in our home so let's get to it!
Monday
DeClutter Confessions Week 5 ~ Laundry Room
The first task of this week is to simply clear off your washer and dryer.  All I had on my dryer was a pack of T.P. (which was half empty so it had been there for a while) and a leaf some kid was saving.  Because this task took me 30 seconds I decided to do something I hadn't done since I bought my washer and dryer 3 years ago...clean the inside!  I could not believe how gross it was inside.  I pulled the drum to the side and cleaned in every nook, cranny and crevice with an old toothbrush and a bar of soap sitting in a cup of water.  Once that was done I poured in 2 cups of Vinegar and put the washer on 'Tub Clean' (or the hottest setting you have) to clean the inside.  Now all the stinky grime is gone!
Tuesday

Tuesday is the day to clear out and organize your upper cabinets.  Mine weren't bad.  A few empty light bulb boxes were all I had to remove.  The other items I simply rearranged.  Yay!
Wednesday

Clearing out and organizing the lower cabinets was a bit more of a task.  My lower cabinets are really a kitchen island my hubbie at Wolf Creek Woodworks built.  I had it organized at one time, as seen from the yellow baskets and buckets all purchased at The Dollar Tree.  But it had been a while since I went through them.  I fixed all the items in the 'To be fixed' box, and put 'Mom's chore stuff' all into one bucket too (white board crayons, raffle tickets, chore block).  I labeled them by making my own chalkboard labels at almost no cost!  This time I just used bigger samples!  Learn how to make your own here.  I put the shoe baskets back where they belonged instead of on the floor.

The only surface I have is the top of my reinvented kitchen island.  It tends to be a dumping ground for trash and stuff that comes out of backpacks.  Clearing took just a moment and then I added a few more chalkboard labels to three more buckets.  One for trash, which includes dryer lint, one for stocking hats and one for gloves.  That way the hats and gloves don't just get piled here or thrown on the floor.
Friday

Friday's task: Clear and clean the floor.  Again, not too bad.  Especially where the day before I put the shoe baskets away and threatened the kiddo's lives if they can't take 15 seconds to put the baskets back.  We'll see.  Since this was a quick day I decided to try a new all-natural cleaning solution that I quickly put together thanks to the ebook Natural Cleaning by The Wellness Mama.  She also has other great DIY cleaning solutions for things like laundry soap, glass cleaner, a GREAT hardwood floor cleaner (that left my floors shinning!), and even a fun printable laundry stain sheet.
Saturday

I didn't have any donate items or things to relocate so no need for today's daily task of wrapping it all up.  I did have a load in the dryer to do tho.... Be sure to stop by this Friday for my DIY Friday post where I will have a step-by-step tutorial for my
